Valtteri Alanen & co.: Silence and Other Impossible Objects

Silence and Other Impossible Objects is an attempt at staging an impossibility. Three performers, Eglė Šimėnaitė (LIT), Lara Hereu (ESP) and Valtteri Alanen (FIN) strive towards puppeteering silence, to play a musical on the instrument of absent sound.

Taking into account that silence is usually to be understood as an absence of something, it seems to be quite full of everything: silence can be soothing, silence can be violence, silence can be as loud as it can be soft.

The performance was premiered in 2021 in Studio Alta Prague as the MA-thesis performance of Valtteri Alanen. Now the group brings a further developed new interpretation of the original composition to Turku International Puppetry Festival.
