Grus Grus Theatre & Tehdas Theatre: Full Measures

9.–11.5.2024, Turku I

A trio for puppet artist, dancer and measure sticks. The show begins in a simple yet enigmatic setting: a random meeting between two people in a bizarre world made entirely of measures. In an attempt to establish a human contact, the couple finds itself trapped in communication that revolves only around measuring oneself and the world. Soon the space around them transforms into a surreal jungle of measures, as everything turns into numbers, averages and percents.

The obsession for measuring everything plagues our modern society and reaches insane absurdities. Measuring has become an integral part of our existence. What happens to our world when also the unmeasurable is forced into counting units? Do we still measure to improve our lives, or have the roles changed – do we now live to measure more effectively?

Ishmael Falke and Sandrina Lindgren discover the movement qualities of the folding rules with fine distinction (…) their characters do with this object just about everything possible.”

The folding rule is unmistakable in its millimeter precision, so it is brilliant to use it as the agent in this form of object theatre
