The show Full Measures inventively uses object manipulation and contemporary dance techniques to create a visually outstanding live storytelling.
The performance Full Measures has been created during the autumn of 2019. Livsmedlet theatre duo has been already for several years gaining experience in artistic research work with different techniques of object based stage animation. This time, a new concept was developed: a trio for puppet artist, dancer and measure sticks. Full Measures is a visual and proportionally ambitious account on mankind’s obsession of measuring. Using unconventional techniques, we expand the boundaries and possibilities of object theatre. The show begins in a simple yet enigmatic setting: a random meeting between two people in a bizarre world made entirely of measures. In an attempt to establish a human contact, the couple finds itself trapped in communication that revolves only around measuring oneself and the world.Soon the space around them transforms into a surreal jungle of measures, as everything turns into numbers, averages and percents.
The obsession for measuring everything plagues our modern society and reaches insane absurdities.Measuring has become an integral part of our existence. What happens to our world when also the unmeasurable is forced into counting units? Do we still measure to improve our lives, or have the roles changed – do we now live to measure more effectively?
