A modern puppet theater take on the Greek swan myth mixing genders, rococo and swans!
In 1800th century France, a member of the nobility living as a recluse in the countryside starts to write a new version of the tale about Leda and the Swan. Modernizing the ancient myth by bringing it to the rococo era the narrator crafts a tragic, yet an extremely funny story of the dishonoring of a virgin.
Puppets bring the story to life in its whole glory. Innocent virgin Adèle, depraved Marchioness, bold Monsieur de Signe and two Barons obsessed with bird’s feet find their forms from more or less erotic plastic objects and rococo swag. Beyond the parodic tone lie darker nuances and even more somber characters.
